The Dragon Tales is a five-manuscript speculative series by JohnMichael G. Schlim, built around ancient dragons returning to the political, military, religious, and institutional reality of the present day.

The series approaches dragons as ancient strategic and political beings rather than ordinary fantasy creatures. Their return creates military problems, but also questions of law, faith, biology, family, evidence, logistics, institutional legitimacy, and historical responsibility.

Creative statement
Not another medieval kingdom.
The extraordinary enters a world that already has systems.
Dragons fly through controlled airspace. Evidence enters courts. Magic creates research protocols and black markets. Ancient authority faces democratic procedure, while modern institutions discover that procedure without wisdom can become another kind of violence.
The series draws its pressure from that collision. Scale, bureaucracy, history, command, family, and consequence matter as much as spectacle.
